The Avenues
The Avenues Historic District was established as a National Register district and designated a Local Historic District in 1978.

Capitol Hill
The Capitol Hill Historic District was established as a National Register District in 1982 and was designated as a Local Historic District in 1984. The boundaries of the local district were about 25% larger than the boundaries of the National Register District listed in 1982, which was expanded in 2002.

Central City
The Central City Historic District was established as a National Register district in 1996 and was designated as a Local Historic District in 1991.

City Creek/Memory Grove
City Creek Canyon was established as a National Register district in 1980 and was designated a Local Historic District in 2015.

Exchange Place
The Exchange Place Historic District was established as a National Register district and was designated a Local Historic District in 1978.

The South Temple Historic District was established as a National Register district in 1982 and was the first to be designated a Local Historic District in Salt Lake City in 1976.

The University Historic District was established as a National Register district in 1995 and was designated as a Local Historic District in 1991.
